About the Community of Woodbury

Woodbury is a growing suburb in the Twin Cities metropolitan area and is located southeast of St. Paul. The city is in close proximity to one of Minnesota's largest employers, 3M, and to the St. Croix River Valley, providing a beautiful natural setting. Woodbury is known for its appealing residential neighborhoods, which are connected by more than 100 miles of trail systems and surrounded by 3,000 acres of dedicated park land. Residents have a wide choice of housing, ranging from apartments and town homes to large-lot single family homes.
Woodbury's current park system consists of 45 park sites, 3,000 acres of dedicated park land, and approximately 100 miles of trails. The neighborhood parks form the core of the city's park system and include facilities such as playground equipment, ball fields, tennis courts, picnic areas, trails and skating rinks.
In addition, Woodbury has a unique indoor park that serves as a central gathering place. Central Park is a beautiful year-round facility perfect for weddings, receptions, special events, meetings and other activities. Bielenberg Sports Center is another popular recreation destination at any time of year. It provides two indoor ice rinks and a field house with an indoor track that is available for walk/run time daily on a fee basis. The outdoor complex consists of softball/baseball fields and soccer/football fields. There also are picnic facilities, a sand volleyball court, play equipment and two miles of trails that wind throughout the complex.
Woodbury is known for its excellent schools (private and public) plus a variety of entertainment and recreational options including two golf courses and many fine dining establishments. Woodbury has also become the retail shopping area of the east metro with the addition of several major shopping centers that can be found throughout the city. The city is conveniently situated near three major thorough fares 494, 694 and 94.

Woodbury Parks & Recreation

The city contains many attractive residential areas. Eight small lakes, most with public parks and pathways, dot the city. Neighborhoods are connected by more than 100 miles of multi-use trails, and residents have a wide choice of housing, ranging from apartments and townhomes to large-lot estates.

Recreational opportunities abound in Woodbury. The park system features 3,000 acres of dedicated park land, 40 community and neighborhood parks, and a swimming beach. The city's municipal golf course, Eagle Valley, opened in 1998. Woodbury also operates the Bielenberg Sports Center, which houses two indoor ice arenas and a field house with walking/running track. The outdoor complex includes 14 athletic fields, picnic facilities, and play equipment.
